Dimensional letters turn a flat logo into something with depth, edge and shadow. We make them in stainless steel, aluminium, acrylic or a mix of materials, and we run the light through a CNC cut acrylic backing so the glow is even across every letter.
Materials and finishes
- Mirror stainless steel — sharp reflections, premium facades.
- Brushed stainless steel — the most popular outdoor finish, hides fingerprints.
- Aluminium with powder coat — any RAL or Pantone colour, lighter and cheaper.
- Acrylic faces with metal returns — even light with a metal edge.
- Titanium and gold finishes — for hotels, jewellery and hospitality.
Depth and sizing guide
Depth is what makes the letter read as three dimensional. As a rule the return depth should be about one fifth of the cap height, and never less than 60 mm for illuminated letters.
- 100-150 mm cap height — around 60 mm depth, indoor reception and shop interiors.
- 200-400 mm cap height — 80 to 100 mm depth, most outdoor facades.
- 600 mm and above — 120 to 150 mm depth for roof and long distance reading.
Illuminated or non-illuminated
- Front lit — the face glows, the metal edge stays dark.
- Back lit or halo lit — the wall glows behind the letter, softer and more premium.
- Edge lit — light travels through the acrylic face for a clean outline.
- Non-illuminated — painted or metal letters for daylight frontages and interiors.
Mounting options
- Stud mount through a paper template — the standard for flat walls.
- Standoffs — holds the letter off the wall for a halo effect.
- Raceway base — hides wiring and lets you level the letter group.
- Hanging or ceiling mount — for indoor atrium and reception signs.
3D logo fabrication
Send the logo as outlines, not a photo. AI, EPS, PDF or SVG lets us cut the true curve, keep the counters open and reproduce small details. If you only have a JPG we will redraw it and send the vector back for your approval before production.
Indoor reception and office letters
For interiors we usually work in brushed stainless, acrylic or painted aluminium at 60 to 200 mm cap height, with an edge lit or halo effect so the sign is bright without being harsh. Card and acrylic name plates can be added to the same design language.
Frequently asked questions
What is the smallest letter you can make?
For illuminated 3D letters we recommend a minimum of 100 mm cap height, because the LED and wiring need room inside the letter.
Stainless steel or aluminium?
Stainless is better near the coast and for premium finishes. Aluminium is lighter and cheaper for inland retail and interior work.
Can you match my logo font exactly?
Yes, if you send outline artwork such as AI, EPS, PDF or SVG. With a JPG we redraw the logo and send the outline back for approval first.
How are the letters mounted?
Standard is stud mounting through a template we supply. For a halo effect we use standoffs so the light spills onto the wall behind.
What is the lead time?
10-15 working days after artwork approval, plus shipping.
